Best medicine after horrible accident

My husband and I were involved in a terrible car accident January 9. Among other injuries, he has a broken neck and i have a very badly broken right arm. God was there and we will mend and be good as new.  I got my computer after three days in the hospital. in between surgeries, etc I read TFL.  It was the best medicine available. I have enjoyed every picture and all the comments. It was so nice to follow the experiments and experiences of all the loafers. I will say, some pictures were better than others depending on the amount of morphine I had on board. I can now attest that bread and conversation about bread is good for everything!

Hi Pam,

So sorry to hear about your accident. May you and your husband have a quick recovery.

Baking does certainly makes me feel 100% better - whether being pastry or bread baking. At the moment - it would have to be breads.

May the angels give you strength and guide you.

Happy baking!

Hi Pam,

Very sorry to hear of your accident but relieved to know you and your husband will recover from your injuries in time. My wife and I have a fairly lengthy commute every work day, so it really hits home when I'm reminded of just how hazardous travelling by car can be.

Get well soon, and very best wishes to you and your husband during this difficult time.

Judging by the quality of your typing, you're well on your way to recovery, Pam!  That's super and I hope your husband is healing as nicely.

You know, folding dough just might be good physical therapy for that arm...  :-)

Pam, I hope you and your husband continue to heal quickly and smoothly - what a horrible thing to go through!

I am sure reading about bread baking and seeing all the great photos from the expert bakers here would help any of us yeast-addicts to heal... ;-)

I can empathize with how good it is to have bread as both diversion and therapy.  May you each have a speedy and complete recovery.

to put off the semmel baking and I saw your note on the 52% hydration baguette dough.  Ok...  one armed mixing in the food processor it is!  I got my malt ready.  Ready when you are!   (The tricky part might be the clean up.)

Hope you both are healing quickly.

Pam, I'm also sending my get-well wishes to you & your husband. Glad this wonderful forum is lightening your days. I'm across on the other side of the country - I see you're in Colorado. If I was nearby, I'd bring you some homemade bread to you guys to improve that hospital food!

who have sent their get-well wishes and their prayers.  It was like hearing from old friends.  I do envy you all that good bread. The bread at this place is atrocious. I am following all of your adventures and I am sure that every picture of every loaf makes us better.

You know your addicted when, looking through 4 weeks of mail, the only one that looks interesting is from New York Bakers and, wonders of wonders,in the envelope there is a sample of dried Rocky Mtn Sourdough Starter. How did he know??

You know your adduced when you keep staring at the sourdough starter and your husband says, "No. Pam, there is NO way you can start a sourdough starter here...Pam, "NO"

Hmmm

I didn´t see your post any earlier.

You are right, bread baking has a soothing, calming effect on you. I´m right now in Germany (my sister has cancer) and baking for friends I´m staying with helped me quite a bit.

Best wishes,

Karin

Karin, How is your sister??  Been thinking about both of you recently  Are you  home or still with your sister??  Keep baking, you'll feel better and your relatives will get lots of healthy bread!!    Pam

Unfortunately my sister had a re-occurrence of her breast cancer, and I don´t expect her to live more than perhaps a few weeks.

I came over from Maine to visit her in the hospital, staying with friends and relatives, and baked some bread and cake for them to show my gratitude for their support.
