Need help choosing a cast iron combo cooker for my friend in Hong Kong

Hi,

My friend would like to have a combo cooker that's pretty enough to serve on the dining table and durable enough to bake no-knead bread in the oven.

1. Would this one meet her requirements?

2. If not, could you please recommend a brand/model that meets both requirements?

3. If my friend is buying two sets

    a)one for stovetop use only

    b)one for baking bread only

Please recommend a model for each category.

Thanks,

I just lurrrv* my Lodge 3.2 quart cast iron combo cooker, with the long handle, and a short assist handle. I've made dozens of loaves of bread in it. It handles up to 1300 grams of 90% WW dough.

Currently out of stock at 'zon, but it will be back. Last price I saw was either 34.99 or 39.99 US.

The Lodge 5 qt combo is available and going for 49.99.  Two short handles. Same diameter as the 3.2 qt, but the deep part is deeper and angled less.

I can't speak much to enamel coated cast iron. Apparently, it's all made, or finished up, in China.

While the Lodge enamelled models are "cast" in the US, they are shipped to China to be coated in enamel, then shipped back.

I did buy a made-in-China Crofton brand 1.75 qt enamelled cast iron lidded long handled pot at Aldi, but have only used it to bake a few loaves. I have never cooked with it on a stove-top burner. Nice price as I remember. It was one of Aldi's sale items in the winter.

Very helpful information; we've started looking for the 3.2 quart.

That 🍼 baby is a 👨‍🎓 man now. Time flies.
