How to move a deck oven

Hi there folks,

I just got a great deal on two used double-deck Blodgett 981 ovens.  Problem is, I need to move them out of the building myself.

Anyone have any tips for moving such heavy beasts? The internet tells me these are each about 1400lbs...

Right now I'll have access to a pallet jack, some 4-wheel dollies, and hopefully a few willing friends.

Thanks!

check out www.blodgett.com, contact if there is not direct moving info on website.

or Youtube.  You can learn anything and everything on youtube.  (there is actually a video called "how to move an oven" !)

The greatest risk is liability - damage to property or injury to persons.

Movers who specialize in moving safes or pianos might be of service, or could recommend local professional/insured movers who have the right equipment.

You can use below methods. And find solutions from internet.

  1. Lifting Oven With ForkLift
  2. Lifting Oven With Engine Hoist
  3. Lifting Oven With Crane

Thanks all, for the suggestions. I did end up reaching out to my local commercial parts & service company, who offer moving and installation services for Blodgett ovens, so I trust them to have the right precautions and insurance, and to do a good job. Of course I'll be paying more for them to move it than I did for the ovens themselves, but that would have been the case for any ovens that I'd have bought second-hand.

I also got clarification that the whole unit is 1400lbs, not each oven. Which is somewhat less overwhelming, I guess.

Hope it all worked out for you! I'm hoping you can share who the local commercial parts & service company is? I am going to get a deck oven but not sure how to move it inside.

Thanks!
