Favorite Bread Making Hardware?

So what's your current favourite piece of breadmaking hardware? Homemade or bought, but kit that is a bit different, so no thermoms, scales, bread tins (unless very quirky), lames, bannetons, etc.

Here's two of mine (breaking the rule already):

Flour brush:

Actually a decorator's paper hanging brush with natural bristles, bought new at a car boot sale for 50p. Perfect for dusting off excess flour from dough when shaping and from loaves before they go in the oven.

And second, a Japanese oil can, great for oiling bulk dough containers and similar:

This is mine-

These are some tasks that I use it for with a temp controller:

30C for clas bread dough (2hrs; 900 gr total dough or 475 g flour, 80% hydr)

40-42C for making clas and flas (1-2 days)

I have yet to try if at 65C for scalding solod (5hrs) but now I found that the mini crockpot (with a water bath and the dome top of the yogurt maker) works for that.

I wasn't wrapping the probe in the picture but I do now. It would have been better to buy the temp controller with food safe probe.

I will play Lance. For the first item I have to say my granite "Dutch oven" populated by Caroline as I use it every week. The second item would be my digital thermometer. The third item would be my rise gauge which I use it mainly for my baguette doughs. The fourth item would be my quart dough board which I don't have a pic to show at the moment.

I like the Japanese oil can—it looks like a shaving soap brush.

Possibly my new favorite tool will be a 3-qt InstantPot Duo. I recently used it in preparation of the Latgalian Rye from theryebaker-dot-com. The bread was fantastic, so I suspect the IP will be pressed into service frequently for additional loaves.

Specifically the Oxo jar spatula that I use for a lot of tasks from mixing my starter to releasing dough from the bulk container or scraping down the mixer bowl. I have worn out two or three of them when the tip breaks off and now a replacement is unavailable There is a new version but it looks like an ordinary spatula. Such a disappointment, the whole world is against me I swear! Oh and Happy New Year Everyone

i guess my current one would have to be the ChInese Noodle dough mixer it was pretty cheap purchased off of ebay but through an Australian  supplier and cheaper than dealing with China and a long wait for shipment. It has exceeded my expectations and would be especially useful to any one that finds hand mixing pain full

currently still selling A$ 121 for the 5L model  it even has a heater for proving but ive never used that function. It does a much better job than my Kenwood chef . I find it easy to take with me if im doing a bread class at someones home too.

A worthy entry, Derek! I like the look of that mixer and it is crazy cheap - not that I need another mixer of course....

I take it there is a bottom mounted dough hook in there?

My current favourite is my new bright orange Ankarsrum Assistent which I’ve posted about.  I getting the hang of it.  I love that the dough doesn’t heat up with mixing and the kneading does seems to be quite gentle if you don’t use the dough hook.

The other longer time favourite is my Brot and Taylor proofing box.  I wouldn’t be able to do the baking that I like without it during the colder winter months.

Benny, nice looking mixer,  I had an older used model, and really thought it was quite a step up from a KA.  I used the dough hook once, then put it back in the box.  Really loved the timer as well.

Thank you Barry, I’m enjoying the Ankarsrum Assistent thus far.  I think I have the hang of it now, I think.  It is certainly a big step up from my old KA with the plastic gears that would walk all over the counter unless I held it down, crazy.  It’s great that I can walk away from the Ank and get other things done.
