I am looking for a good mail order or Los Angeles area supplier of organic Red Fife wheat berries. I want to try out baking with it.

Try Grist and Toll in Pasadena. They mill heirloom grains there. Nice folks.
I agree, Grist and Toll is a great place. They don’t sell the berries, though, do they? Also, the prices are pricey - i buy small quantities to experiment with from them. Nice to e-meet another SoCal baker :-)
By the way, Suminandi and Trailrunner, I didn't mean to circumvent Breadtopia. Those guys are great and do a nice job. I just got a couple bowls and other supplies from them. The first bowl arrived broken, and they immediately sent me a replacement. Good company. Grist and Toll only does milling and sells the flour.
I think Grist&Toll is a great resource for bread hobbyists and would be excited to learn about it, if I hadn’t already.
Have you been to Kings Roost in Silverlake? They have a bunch of mills and other paraphernalia, in case you want to look at them at a brick and mortar store.
I should also add that I don't do my own milling yet. I'm about to take the plunge, though. I'm eying the KoMo mills on Breadtopia's site. And, yes, it's very expensive to buy the heirloom flours freshly milled. Ouch.
