Happy Fornacalia everyone

I can't actually be sure that today is the day, because the Curio Maximus hasn't actually announced it. But today is the last day it could possibly be. So I'm celebrating in the simplest possible way, by baking bread with only three ingredients: flour, water and salt. Oh, and the squillions of things that bestir my 100% hydration natural leaven.

How would you celebrate?

Ave and joyous Fornicalia to you also, I commenced my celebration with some delicious Italian sourdough and a bowl of Pasta Puttanesca along with a lovely glass of red wine (a Brunello, I think).  Can't get any better than that!!

Note: the Ancient Romans always carved a likeness of an erect phallus on their ovens to ensure their bread rose properly!  Roman trivia, I knows it!! :)

How strange. we also had penne alla puttanesca last night. But I did not make the connection with the fornices at that time!
