Kitchenaide bowl probs
Does anyone have suggestions about how to keep a Kitchenaide P-6 mixer bowl on the "arms" when making stiff dough; mine wobbles around then hops off the "posts" on one side or the other.

I have a 7 qt KA and have never had that happen even with a double batch of bagel dough. Do you have it clamped onto the spring latch in back?
If so there might be a problem with the latch and you might want to replace it would be my guess.
It's the "posts" on the "arms" on the P6 that are the problem, not the back spring lock; the back lock is OK and on tight.
I had a P6 in Europe and was able to get clips from Kitchenaide to hold the bowl on tight; but I can't find those here in Canada. Chris319 posted a comment two years ago about clips available from the hardware store, but his picture of the clips isn't visible and there are a hundred different kinds; so I wonder which he was recommending.
Also in Europe you could get a copper bowl liner for doing egg work; I don't see that anywhere either.
I should have kept the Euro machine and rewired my house for 220-volt power (ha ha).
Someone else asked the same question about the KA-7.

ebay seems to be the only place I see them so it must be a discontinued item. I'm guessing they used to come with the paster maker because pasta dough is so heavy that it was causing problems. Maybe they discontinued them because any dough that required clips to hold the bowl in place might strain the motor.

You are probably making too large a batch and your hook is too low.
Thanks to those that sent leads for the clips I was looking for: They are Kitchenaide item 241561 and I have ordered them directly from Kitchenaide in Mississauga, Ont.
if I was making a particularly dense dough or a 'large' batch...for example, Hamelman's Oatmeal bread, which makes just over 4 lbs of dough, gave me trouble every time.
i solved the problem by getting an Ankarsrum :-)
Just Googled Ankarsrum; I should have known about it having lived in Stockholm for ten years; I apprenticed with a baker there; but I didn't know about that machine and appreciate your telling me about it. It is indeed impressive. Meanwhile, I found the clips needed for the Kitchenaide and am smiling again.
