Hello...

I'm a newbie here and to bread baking.  I made my first attempt at baking Portuguese rolls today.

I'm here to learn.

Welcome to TFL.  As a welcoming gift, let me point you to three different things.  See that black bar at the top of the page?  You'll find some good stuff there.

First, if you are new to bread baking, click on the word Lessons in the black bar. That will take you to a series of lessons by our moderator, Floyd Mann.  Practice each one until you are confident that you can make that bread reliably and consistently.  Then move on to the next lesson and repeat the process.  As you do, you will build your skills and your understanding.  With any luck, you'll have a few failures to teach you what doesn't work, too.

Second, click on the Handbook link in the black bar.  It contains a lot of very useful information in a concise format.. You will probably go back to it numerous times; it's that helpful.

Third, anytime you want information about a particular topic, type a word or phrase in the white Search box at the right hand end of the black bar. That will pull up tens, if not hundreds, of posts which include that word or phrase.  It is a great way to access the accumulated experience of TFL posters from the past several years.  Want to get some feedback on Bosch mixers?  Type Bosch in the box and click on Search.  And so on.
