A Quick Cheap Tip

You probably already know about this, but disposable shower caps make excellent covers for proofing bread in tins.

I never thought of that because I save those for my camera bag, but the disposable bags in the grocery store produce departments work equally well for bread.  I save all the dry ones from shopping for this purpose.  When I put bread into baskets for proofing, especially overnight in the fridge, I just put each basket into a bag and wind up the extra length and tuck it under each basket when I put them to bed.  With the basket sitting on the wound up "pigtail" it doesn't try to unwind.  No twist ties or rubber bands or anything else are needed.  When the bread comes out I just get rid of them.  Instead of a single use for groceries I get double uses out of them.  The dry, clean ones anyway.

Yes I’ve been using and reusing shower caps for years now, they work well.  After a long while the elastic loses its elasticity and then I replace them.

at Target. yellow, red, blue , green sized accordingly. hand Wash carefully after every use to prevent contamination. They last years. I like that they are sized and I use them instead of any wasteful wraps.
