White chicken chili with my homemade roasted Hatch Chili Poblano Pepper and Tomatillo sauce . 100% home milled grains with buttermilk cornbread. mmmm. It's so light because I ignore the directions that usually say, mix lightly, for a quick bread. I fold the wet into the dry thoroughly and then I beat it several good strong strokes to lighten the texture. Into a preheated oiled iron skillet. 375 for 25 min. It freezes beautifully.

It all looks yummy! What's your source for the New Mexico chiles? I finally used up the last of the (fresh-roasted for me at a farm stand) ones I brought back from NM and froze. I used them for green chile sauce. Then of course we used some with cheeseburgers. I keep thinking about getting a bag of roasted ones sent to me in the fall but that would be way more than we could store.

Last year in Aug/Sept at our Kroger. They had boxes of them stacked in the produce section. They were fresh and marked mild. I bought a lot ( can’t remember ) and prepped them and roasted under my broiler with an equal amount of poblanos , tomatillos and some red onions . It took me a long time and I froze the puree/sauce in qt containers. ( edited my above post it’s green chili tomatillo sauce not salsa)
This year no one had them . I think the immigration mess may have played a part in availability. I should have sought out more but kept thinking they would have them.
Next Aug I’ll be more proactive. Keep me posted about your source. Maybe we can team up. c
One year our local supermarket (Martin's) had them but not since. I'm guessing not too many people in the area know what to do with them. Maybe next year one of us can order a sack and then we split them. Let's see what we can get next fall.
We have a Hispanic community in the area and a several restaurants and a Hispanic store front. I should have checked with them. We can both do some research. 🙏
Wow that meal looks delicious Caroline! I can almost taste it from Toronto.

Would love to share a meal with you . Perhaps some day. 🙏
Wouldn’t that be wonderful to meet in real life someday. That would be lovely.

If we get up to Niagara on the Lake you are very close. The family up there has their hands full with health issues but we are hopeful this coming Summer . 🙏
What a tasty meal. Great use of those fresh milled grains. That cornbread is certainly a great complement to the chili.
Happy eating!

It’s a memory now. Two meals then we move on. Went to an amazing shop in Charlottesville an hour away. Incredible cheeses. D’Affinoise… if you get a chance it’s 1 million x better than Brie. On my baguette with a chilled Chardonnay and we had a lovely evening. 🙏
