With the goal of 190Lbs in site, it is time to switch it up.
Transitioning to a more flexible Mediterranean style diet.
Today's brunch. Still sticking to, two meals a day 18/6.
Fast for 18 hrs. With a six hour meal window.
Edited to add the visual cue diabetic plate. I only ate half the potato. Tomorrow's dinner with the rest of the steak.
Glad you are getting such positive results. c
I have a large asparagus patch which I pick from early May to July 1. I give a lot away, but we still have asparagus just about every day, cooked in a variety of ways. Don't really get tired of it.
Now tomato season starts. You may be interested to know the variety I grow is the Sicilian Saucer. I will post a pic when I find one of a tomato that looks like a pumpkin. Funny thing is, this type came up randomly several years ago in one of my seed pots. One plant and I've been saving seeds every year. A fellow gardener determined that Sicilian Saucer was the most likely type based on appearance, because I had no idea where it came from.
First pic is 2-1/2lbs, second 2lbs 12oz. That's without any special treatment. There's some worm bin compost in the planting hole and that's about it. Soil is clay that could be used to build a house.
Love the tomatoes! The first sign of spring asparagus shoots. My sister is an excellent gardener. Do you have rhubarb also?
Of course. 😃
That's a great start to reducing your blood glucose. Continue and over time you may get back to normal. I've got diabetes type 2 and my HBA1C back 18 months ago was 7.2! It's now 5.4 (medicated) due to cutting down the carbs. I've reduced the net carbs to about 30 g / day. I lost over 25 kg and feeling great. I don't fast and have snacks if I feel hungry, but make sure they are low carb e.g. cheese or other protein. Keep up the good work....your life depends on it!
Cheers,
Gavin
The positive comments from friends here are a great source of motivation. That being said, today's dinner was a treat. Homemade pizza. I let this one go 5 minutes too long. Even so, it was still delicious 😋.
Inspired by Umberto's of New Hyde Park. Grandma style Sicilian pizza.
From frozen par-baked proprietary formula base.
The last photo was yesterdays lunch. Smile...
As you probably know, shrimp are very low in calories.
I did know that. I am concentrating on nutritionally
dence foods that are low in calories. Another criteria in my meal planing is foods that are as close to nature as posible. The less processing the better.
Here is a short list of foods I will try and add. I this next phase quality protein will be necessary.
I like canned mackerel in olive oil because it has high omega-3 and low mercury content; herring is another option.
How about tofu? Some processing, but not more than cottage cheese. It's neutral flavor works with just about any seasoning or sauce.
Instead of processed tofu, I am going to add endime , spelling. As in the whole young soybean, to the rotation.
Tonight's salad, to many players to name all
Lentil, chickpea, black bean, avocado, and more.
As you can see my wife's is a less nutritionally dense variation.
I've never tried one myself, but artichokes are nutrient-rich, low-cal and have a few gms of protein.
I include them in my meal planing. Cottage cheese whey protein is inexpensive and protein rich. In addition some of the protein is released slowly. That makes it more available.
You're way ahead of me. 😁
Just learning. Necessity, is the mother of opening our minds to seek knowledge.
Have I spammed you guys with this tuna salad? The colors not only make it appealing to the eye. It also insures a variety of nutrients.
