Pi day with new pie iron

Door county Wisconsin cherry pie filling. Outstanding! This the cast iron pie iron from Uno Casa. Excellent heavy preseasoned. Perfect in every way! Cooked up hot crisp and delicious on the charcoal grill. We are taking it camping and did this run through effort in the back yard.

It's nice to see someone celebrating Pi day.

PIE! My dad always said that his dad said there is only one way to cut a pie.... in half! I usually make lard crust but my grandson who is 9 wanted to help and this was most expeditious. Glad you like it!

Hum should have made a pie for today. Freezer is full of fruit so it’s not lack of ingredients.

Told hubby it was pie day and I think he’s making a strawberry rhubarb pie!

Thanks to you, I’ll be getting pie tonight! ??

I saw this post and the next one!!  I grew up on 100 yr old plots of rhubarb in Ohio at my grandmothers home. I have a few qt jars left from my Wisconsin friend... same sour cherry provider. He’s moved to Florida.... sigh... we are headed to the same area tomorrow and strawberries are abundant but alas no rhubarb. Stay tuned for more pie iron exploits as we camp for the next 6 weeks!

hugs to you and your family. May you be strong and healthy. c

Yummy, sour cherry pie is one of my most favourite pies and yours looks great.  I’ve never seen a pie iron before, that is a cool pan.

This brand is the very best. Pre seasoned, HEAVY cast iron, extension rods for safety ( we needed them) fabulous folks at the business end. They really care and amazing fast shipping. Wiped it out and ready to go!  make sure and have vanilla ice cream!

my daughter in law said every camper will be at our tent door lol

This brand pie iron is the best . You need HIGH heat. We used the grill but I had to remove it and place the iron in the coals to finish. In a campfire it only takes 10 min at most. I was using Pillsbury pie crust refrigerator dough... haha... takes longer but cooked up perfectly.

so plan ahead have a good hot fire also can use on your kitchen range just like an iron skillet. If you do a Google search or download the cookbook from the Uno Casa folks there are LOTS of ideas. Will post more in the coming weeks.
