I think this site has been infected.

In the last few days I've noticed:

1. The pictures don't appear in many posts.

2. The search function on the home page does not work.

3. Emails from TFL are being treated by my Nortons security as Junk.

Can't help thinking that something has corrupted the site.

Cheers,

Gain.

I can see posted pics but others not in private messaging.

Tends to lock up pulling up posts.

And when I copy a coment at paste it in, anything else I write gets ersased instead of "saved."

I've dumped the cookies and erased history several times as well as turning my iPad off to restore.

Using Safari.

Gavin, In another recent post Abe posted the same. I am using an iPad (iOS) and have not had the problems. I wonder what you and Abe are using to view the site.

I am mostly reading TFL using iPadOS just like Dan, the only bug I’ve noticed this weekend is that the search isn’t working, I get an odd error message, first a pop up asking me if I want to submit the form again, and then “ The form has become outdated. Press the back button, copy any unsaved work in the form, and then reload the page.”

Just click the "Report" button underneath posts like that.

The site is more secure today than it was a week ago, actually.

I don't know if you'd noticed but previously the site was running in a hybrid of http and https. Most pages ran under http, which means they were not encrypted when they traveled from the server to your browser. Some pages, however, like the login page and new content creation pages, were under SSL (https), which means the content was encrypted when it travelled.

Last week I finally moved nearly everything to https. This was mostly because Chrome has gotten more uptight about suggesting that everything should travel using https. Like I don't know if you'd noticed but two weeks ago when you'd post from Chrome you'd get a security warning after posting because you were being redirected from secure content (the form) to insecure content (the page). That shouldn't happen any more since all of the content is under SSL too.

One thing about running under SSL is that browsers don't like to serve mixed content, because if you are on a page that is secure, one piece of insecure content can leak private information. So what browsers tend to do is block the insecure content. Missing pictures are most likely any post that is linking to images at http://somethingsomething rather than https://somethingsomething.

I overlooked the search issue. My mistake. I'll take a look at it today and try to get it back up under SSL.

Norton updates constantly, spam fighting is an ongoing saga. I doubt any change in spam filtering is related to last week's change.

There may be some problems on the server. And some problems with the security certificate (which does not mean that the site is infected with viruses). All this can be solved quickly and easily. There is nothing to worry about.

Just checking the chrome security warning, and it is fixed. I can remove the exception. Thanx!

Everything is working fine now. No problems pops up. The forum works great. Maybe there were some temporary problems, but now they are not.
