Baguette baking videos

I’ve recently started filming some of my techniques/procedures I use that I learned during the Baguette Community Bake..  The thread for the community bake is a treasure trove of information but it can be intimidating to read through. Alan (Alfanso) put together a PDF summary of the information in the Community Bake which I think summarizes the what we as a group learned about baguette baking.

I hope that making these videos might help other bakers who haven’t yet baked baguettes but are interested in doing so.  Please like if you find anything useful or helpful to you.

Thanks, Benny

Thanks, Benny. I've enjoyed all of your videos. They are very well produced, explanations are clear and informative, and your enjoyment of baking bread is obvious.

is such a wealth of information and I am so grateful that you and the others have shared your tips, the pictures of everyone's bakes and tweaks and suggestions. I have consumed it from start to finish (I read it over the summer) and took notes and made attempts to recreate the different formulas, etc. I never managed to get any Instagram loaves but I keep at it.

And now your videos - So instructional and helpful. Please keep it up. I am (I'm sure) just one of many who appreciate the time and effort you put into them.  Thank you.

You’re very welcome, I hope that my videos are helpful to you and others.  Making baguettes can seem so intimidating, but if I can do it anyone can.  I do not have any special skills, however, I jumped in and kept baking them until I got somewhere near the results I am happy with.  You can too with some perseverance.  Thanks for watching my videos.

Shouted into (mostly) the void) these past few years.  If I can do it, anyone can!  Along with - there are 100 ways to do it right and as many ways to do it wrong.

An easier reference, is the PDF found here We have extracted the bakes of 4 participating bakers and present it in PDF form .

It focuses on 4 of the more intrepid and dedicated baguette bakers over a three month period, Benito being one of them.  You can easily see their progression during this period.

Yes I forgot that you had posted the PDF Alan, sorry I should remember to link to that and in fact will edit my earlier post to link to it.  You spent a huge amount of time putting it together and we all thank you for it.

I downloaded the PDF when you posted it (and thank you for what must have been a Herculean task).  I also have a notebook full of posts from you four intrepid baguette bakers - copied, pasted, printed and sort of indexed. And of course, an excel spreadsheet with formulas and notes.  I think I now have access to the knowledge, now I just need to put in the 10,000 hours of practice (so says Gladwell).

I was trying to learn Apple's Pages word processor at the same time, so a ton of rolling the boulder up the hill, only to have it roll down again.  And then there was always another edit, and likely still more, but I had to put a period at the end of the sentence somewhere.

It was actually a fun and rewarding task to undertake.

Your welcome, alan
