Did you shatter the door?

Did you shatter the door? I've blown up a light bulb while spritzing the walls and shattered a hot pyrex pan by spilling water on it, but I guess I am lucky that my oven does not have a glass door.

in search of the super crunchy crust

Surely instead of putting an expensive part of your oven in jeopardy, IE- glass door, Pyrex pans, etc, and at the risk of severe damage to your self it would be much cheaper to buy a cloche.
If that's too expensive, then make one as I did, well my husband did for me. Gives you a fabulous crust..... qahtan

water hazard

Another hazard putting water in electric ovens, is that electic devices and water do not mix I burnt out the heating element in my fan oven with too much spraying

Homemade steam injector

I was cruising around the information superhighway and stumbled onto this web page:

http://www.cookingwithcrack.com/bread/steam/index.html

It shows a rather ingenious homemade steam injector. It doesn't look that difficult to construct. If I have time (and that is frequently not a given), I think I'll try to scrounge up the parts for this. I have an electric oven where the oven vent is under one of the stovetop burners, so it looks as if all I have to do is bend the tubing onto the vent and let the steam just flow in.

Glass door

No it's just cracked. But I still won't be baking for awhile.
