What do you suggest as a cover for cultures?

I used to cover my culture with a loosely fastened paper towel which had the advantage of letting air and evaporation pass. I switched to a loose silicon cover, which lets air pass, since it's loose, but retains evaporation, so my culture doesn't dry so much (its sitting on a wood plank on the radiator). The droplets accumulate on the cover and end up getting back to the culture.
What's better, please?

I keep mine in a 6 oz, plastic jar with a plastic cover and I keep it in the refrigerator.  I refresh it at two week intervals.  I am not saying my method is better, just that it suits me.

covered it with a thin latex glove and when it fully inflated to show a hand standing tall they knew it was time to feed again so that is my favorite

If the thin latex glove inflated, it means that there was no air circulation between the culture and the room? I read somewhere online that it should be loosely covered to allow air to circulate. I'm puzzled.

No air circulation requited at all,  The wee beasties are in the flour - not the air!  The capturing wee beasties out of the sir is an old wives tale that will not die and was based on an old wives tale but now seems to be Internet based.:-)

You need it to be covered so it doesn't dry out and it keeps flies out but you don't want it airtight because of the gas build up but a starter doesn't need oxygen. It likes oxygen but it's not necessary.

I use a tupperware jar for my starter. When it's bubbling up I screwed the lid on loosely. When it's being stored in the fridge, it's done some room temperature time and it's bubbled up some then I'll tighten the lid a bit more to prevent drying out when storing for a while.
