Hi Folks!

Hi everyone. Just signed up from San Antonio. My name is Shari and I'm a mother of 1 beautiful girl who's grown into a lovely young woman. I taught her to cook and she put me to shame by jumping straight into making her own pie crusts, breads, and even noodles! I've been baking bread for about a year with various levels of success and thought it was high time to get some help from the internets.

I received the book Artisan Bread in Five Minutes a Day for the holidays and have been having fun with it for the last couple of weeks, though I definitely enjoy the more traditional approaches. But you know, sometimes time is a real factor, so the book is coming in handy.

Anyway, you'll probably find me asking some of the most basic novice questions you've ever gotten! Hope y'all can bear with me!

Welcome and an upcoming Q&A

Welcome to the site!

A heads up that I'm going to be posting a Q&A with Zoë François and Jeffrey Hertzberg, the co-authors of Artisan Bread in Five Minutes a Day in a couple of days. I believe they'll be taking community member questions for a few days after that as well. It should be fun: they should be able to answer any questions about the recipes and techniques in their new book. Or on baking in general: they are both accomplished bakers, Zoë professionally and Jeff as an avid hobbyist.

Floyd, The Q&A sounds great.

Floyd,

The Q&A sounds great. I just bought the book and have begun reading it.  Looking forward to seeing the postings.  Thanks for the terrific work you do.

Thanks for the warm welcome! And Floyd, excellent work on landing that agreement! I'm going to make a list of all my questions and have it ready.
