Large Flour recall by GM

TFLers,

In case you have not seen this yet, General Mills has recalled 10 million pounds of flour for E. coli contamination. See the notice here: http://www.fda.gov/ForConsumers/ConsumerUpdates/ucm508450.htm

It is for Gold Medal, Wondra and Signature Kitchen brands and it can be dangerous if it is consumed raw.

Government War on Fllour? or is this collusion by competing teams of government and corporate legal staffs? Another possibility that this is a case of an individual within a large government organization making a name for themselves.

One has to openly wonder about this; if you can't eat the dough why go on to eat the finished baked product? What other creepy crawly things are ground up fine within the innocent looking flour (best probably not to know)? Yes, the harmful E.Coli are killed by the baking process but the reasoning remains as does the reason the grain was infected in the first place. Is it that it's too expensive to monitor incoming grain for pestilence? I am half convinced that General Mills has lobbied FDA help in obscuring "their" problem.

I'll stick with organic flour (bird poop and all) and will continue to taste the dough at the usual point in preparation....,

P.S. And in so doing my epitaph may read, "He lived life dangerously and on edge but did so organically"...,
