Microwave Baking

Is it possible to bake good bread in a microwave oven/

and if you google, you'll find a good few recipes - mostly flattish breads - english muffins that sort of thing. One issue you're going to get is forming a good crust - the usual issue with microwave cooking - you can cook the product, but can't brown it off...

My microwave has an infra red heater which can grill things or can be used to turn the oven into a traditional (if somewhat small) convection/fan oven - but it only goes up to 220°C however I have baked bread in it just for an experiment - it made bread, but not as good or crusty as in my conventional ovens.

The microwave English muffin bread in Beard on Bread.

I like that bread because it's so easy and quick to make.  It's a bit easy to cook it too long, making it as little tough if you're not careful.

I had not given any thought to the idea that I might be creating an impression that my challah was baked in a MW oven.  Forgive me.

That was Easter last year, I just wanted a nice pic to accompany my question.

My wife and I have been blessed with five sons, daughters in-law and seven grand children.  Holiday events are always at our home.  The oven gets extra duty and I was looking for a way to stay out of the way and still bake some bread.  From the responses I've had I now know I will not get the results from MW baking that I want.  PTL, I have my answers and your nice remark about my Challah.

Thanks for the tip.  Something quick, easy and tasty is always a good thing.
