Sweet, Creamy smelling rye starter

Sweet, Creamy smelling rye starter

Got a rye starter started using pineapple juice method. It seems to be rising normally and what not, but it doesnt really smell sour. It smells sort of creamy and sweet like a banana. NOT really banana-y but very reminescent of it. Any one have a similar smelling starter?

I have a starter that smells like bananas too. I started 10 days ago with fig skins and white whole wheat.

Mine never had any strong bad smell, there was a hint of paint in the beginning and then it was just mellow and fruity throughout.

On day 9 it smelled like bananas and other fruits. it's really quite lovely.
