Substituting baking powder

Dear all

I have recipes for cakes that call for baking powder.

I would like to use a starter instead.

Any ideas of how to do it?

The popular "Friendship Cake"  otten uses a starter.  Google "Cake using starter"  -  that'll get you on the road to reading a lot on the subject.
