My first attempt with Peter Reinhart

My first attempt at baguettes using the Bread Baker's Apprentice.  Any comments would be appreciated.  It just came out of the oven and I was happy with the results, but just thought I would post to get any comments from 'the experts".

I'm sure not an expert but I would call that a success; assuming they are edible. : )

If that is a first attempt you are doing a fantastic job.  Worry not about what bread is "supposed" to be and focus on making a bread that you like.

Any homemade bread is great bread,

Thanks.  This was a very pleasant dough to work with.  One thing I did discover is that my oven runs a little hot.  The bottoms turned out a little darker than I would like, but still tasted very good...crusty on the outside and chewy on the inside.  Can't wait to make another attempt at something new!
