Diastatic Malt Powder in Boston area

Hi,  I would like to make the bagel recipe in Hamelman's Bread which calls for diastatic malt powder.   I found some for 2.50 a pound on Amazon and 3 somthing a pound on King Arthur.  In each case shipping is more than the cost of the ingredient.   Anyone know where I can find this in the Boston area?   I live in Lexington, so preferably within easy reach of that.   Also, same question about baking supplies in general.   When I do a search on baking supplies in Boston I always get back a list of bakeries.   I would like to buy some pans, etc. and I would prefer to do locally rather than online if possible.   Thanks!  Varda

Check your local beer brewing shop. They'll have it!

Aloha,

I called a brewing supply shop and they said they have dried malt extract which I'm assuming is the same thing.   And maybe I can pick up some good beer too.   Thanks.  Varda

Hi Varda, did a bit of Googling and came up with China Fair and Eastern Bakers Supply.

Not sure if these will be helpful as I'm not sure exactly what you're looking for.  But they're both in your area.

When all else fails, Amazon and Fantes have lots of baking stuff.
