Can i bake doughnuts instead of frying them? If so will i get good results? what about the ideal tempreture of the oven?

I'd be interested in hearing how they turn out, if you try it.

Fritters, doughnuts, and fry bread are all things I love eating, but I tend to avoid making them at home because I don't want to deal with the oil situation.

I bought a little doughnut baker a couple of years ago.  It makes six full sized doughnuts.  I have not used it once.  I'm getting the urge to give it a try.  I think the biggest issue will be how much water to add to the dough/batter.  This is one of those deals where, I'm sure, even if they are less than perfect, they will be pretty good, and none will be thrown away.
