Want to share a 50lb bag of First Clear?

I used to get First Clear from King Arthur for my Ginsberg Corn Rye. They discontinued selling it.

I found a source for it here on The Fresh Loaf.

A 50 pound bag of Ardent's First clear from Baker's Authority end up costing $8 pound, including shipping. (Buying it in 5lb bags is $15/lb.)

I can't use 50lbs, but I could easily do with half, and happy to split with others.

The only downside? I'm in Pasadena, California. If you're anywhere near, get in touch.

as I live too far but isn't your math a little off? At $8 per pound (with shipping) the 50 pound bag would be $400! That's ridiculous!

Well, yeah, you must know my high school math teacher.

Let's see if I can do this right (and do, please, double check my work)

50 pound bag
$32 flour
$46 shipping
Total $78
$78 divided by 50= $1.56/lb
(If this were a 5/lb bag = $7.80)

The 50/lb bag is a good price -- if I could bake that many rye loafs before the flour went stale.

The cost for a 50 pound bag is $32.28, plus another $32.57 for UPS Ground shipping to my address in Michigan.

(32.28 + 32.57)/50 = 1.30 per pound, including shipping

Since I usually substitute bread flour for first clear when I encounter a formula that calls for first clear, I doubt that I'll order any even though the price is attractive.
