Today, 1 April, is National Sourdough Bread Day - No Kidding!

There are many different "National xyz Month" or "National xyz Day" that people have declared. My feeling is that most of them come from industry associations who want to sell you their product. The industry associations pick their own National day or month and sometimes lobby Congress to declare it for them. I recently received an email ad about yet another National month. Since I recently joined this bread baking forum, I decided to do a quick web search related to "national" bread-related months and days.

I learned that November is "National Bread Month." "National Homemade Bread Day" is 17 November.

I also learned that today is "National Sourdough Bread Day" - 1 April every year.*  Here is an example link, but you can find more if you do your own web search:
https://nationaltoday.com/national-sourdough-bread-day/

* This is NOT an April Fools joke.

Disclaimer: It is coincidence that I received the email from a store unrelated to bread making this morning, and decided to try the web search. It was a lucky hit, that's all.

to have this recognition, especially given all the celebrity derision of sourdough bread baking in recent years...even Sheldon on TBBT!
