100% Stoneground Whole Wheat Sesame Crusted Hokkaido Sourdough Milk Bread

This one is a present, so no crumb shots unless the recipient sends me a photo.  Same procedure as my previous bake of this recipe with the only deviation being sprinkling sesame seeds on top of the dough after the second application of the egg wash.

Looks like mastery of the form.

Hope your recipient(s) savour the skill and ingredients.

I bought some baked goods in Distillery the other day and was mostly disappointed although it was nice to hear my wife say mine are better. So expensive!

You have lucky friends!

Thank you David. Did you get bread at Brickworks or Cluny Boulangerie?  What type of bread did you get there?  I’m not surprised to hear that your bread is better with the care that you put into your baking.

I tried butter tarts at Brick St.

Pastry was disappointing and filling was just ok.

I don't make them often because of all the butter and sugar.

The only decent butter tart I've had in TO is from Carla's Cookie Box. She seems to have a passion for it.

I find Toronto baked goods have visual appeal but lack flavour and texture, or weirdly go very salty. They are not "alive" with flavour.

Thank goodness we can bake our own goodies right David!  I will say that Blackbird bakery does some nice strawberry rhubarb danishes though.

You are so consistent with that method Benny.  Each one looks just delicious.  Trying to imagine the aroma of the sesame with whole wheat.  Know that you can’t sample this one, but do you think it’s a combination you’d try again?

The scent of the sesame seeds toasting on the crust with the whole wheat was intoxicating with the background of the butter.  I would definitely try this again Troy.  Thanks for the comments!

The crumb photos sent to me my the recipient of this loaf.  She says she enjoyed it for breakfast on the weekend.  So glad she liked it.  Sorry they uploaded sideways, not sure why.
