Timing of feeding?

I started a new starter that starts with rye in the beginning... fed every 24 hrs at the beginning....I'm going out tonight....if I feed it at 22 hours ...or......27 hours....will it matter ? And,,,what better...feeding too soon or a bit later....I imagine it's no biggie but just wanted to check what's best.....before or after and...some reassurance it won't die if I don't feed it AT!!! 24 hrs...lol

Didn't realise that by new you really meant day 1. However +/- a day feeding isn't going to change much.

Hope it goes well!

A few hours either way won't be critical. Go out and have a good time. Get a baby sitter for the starter if you can't stop worrying. ;-)

To put your mind completely to rest: having read a thread hearabouts on sourdough starters, I started one five days ago but didn't feed it at all until the end of the third day. It's bubbling away merrily as I type, having just had its third feed. Yours has a lot of food it doesn't need just yet, so you could miss this feed entirely and it would still be OK.
