Sourdough Angel Food?

Has anyone seen a recipe for this? I've seen it referenced in a couple of places - someone mentioned it as something they purchased at a supermarket (although in this case I suspect a sourdough flavoring) and someone else saw it in a cookbook in 1972.

If you have such a recipe, please let me know!

"Angelfood" cake is raised with beaten egg whites.  No leavening like yeast or anything else is involved.

Might you be referring to some of the delicious European desert breads like panettone? Savarin?

I realize how angel food cake is made and rises. I also know that I add 1/2 cup of starter to quick bread recipes, which rely on baking powder/soda, to add an interesting note to those. My own thought was that it was likely a flavoring, rather than real sourdough starter - supermarket sourdough breads often use flavorings rather than starter, of course. But then I saw someone insisting they saw a recipe for it. So throwing it out to all of you, to see if anyone has heard of anything like this.

I'm finding it hard to imagine an Angel-food cake flavored with sourdough that would actually taste good. It is kinda gross to think about it, in my opinion. Now, sourdough pancakes? Oh yeah! That is some good stuff! But, I may be wrong about the Angel-food cake. It may be good, and I just don't know it. That has been known to happen on occasion.

go and let us know how it turns out,  A little SD in there shouldn't hurt anything and it might turn out to be a sweet SD flavored  bread that is light as a feather.

That milk could be the trade off with the starter and the cracker crumbs could be cake crumbs ???
