Syrian Traditional Sweets "Maamool"
On the occasion of Eid Al-Adha, Happy Eid to all.
I just finished baking this Syrian traditional sweets called "Maamool" that we usually make of religious holidays.
It is made of sweets dough made with butter, fine semolina flour, bread flour, sugar syrup and filled with Pistacheos, Wall Nut and dates paste.
The long cockies are filled with wallnuts, the dome ones are filled with Pistachios and the round ones are filled with dates.
Hope you'll like them.
Happy Eid to all :D
We had a Lebanese bakery not far from us, but it closed down last year. Do you have the recipe for those? I adored the ones with pistachio.
Sure i have the recipe, i could post if interested!!
Hello:
Those cookie looks wonderful and I am sure it taste wonderful. I have never tasted one but would love to sink my teeth into one and more! So...yummy looking.
mantana
They actually have a taste and texture that's very similar to shortbread, only it's filled. Very delicious.
No i don't think so, shortbread are nice too, but they are fluffier than this kind of pastry. This pastry has dense texture. However, i like both shortbread and Maamool :D
Yeah, it's very similar yet not exactly the same because of the addition of the fine semolina flour, and the dough for Mamool is a lot more flexible. I love both, as well!
Yes man they are so delicious, and addictive too :D so if you can't curb your love for such pastry, then you need to do more exercises :D gosh i can't resist them AT ALL :D and wallnut filled ones are my favorite especially with morning's coffee :D
:)
looooolz no mini they are not.
You know you just brought a very old kind of pastry that we used to bake in the past. It is shaped like roses....hmmmm, i have to look for the recipe. Look what you have just done Mini :D
Ooooh ... My favorites, Fancy4baking! I'm particularly weak when it comes to ma'mool, i just can't have enough..
They look lovely!
Eid mubarak to you too :)
Well to be honest, because i tend to be careful about what i eat when it comes to butter and fats in general, when it comes to Maamool i lose my persistence and vigilance for them. Man you should try them topped with powdered sugar on top.
Man so delicious :D
