I have no willpower.

I promised myself I would not bake from Alice Medrich's new book, "Chewy, Gooey, Crispy, Crunchy Melt-in-Your-Mouth Cookies during January.  Apparently I have no willpower.  These were yummy.

Wow, if the pictures in your cookbook were half as good as the ones on your website I can understand why it jumped out and grabbed you and made you bake them!  I wonder why my mouth always drools after looking around on TFL for while!

Lol, and so very inspiring!  I just opened a cherry cheesecake braid I had hidden in the freezer from my Christmas baking, even with the splenda I used in place of all the sugar it was still so incredibily sinful!  I normally stay totally away from things with sugar in them, but I do so very love sweets every once in a while!  I just can't get those pictures out of my mind, those cookies really do look good, and you could probably use splenda in the filling but the cookie part would definitly only work with real sugar!

You're killing me here. I'm trying to lose some weight (says me, after polishing off the second fantanstic Bahn Mi I've had today - but one was for lunch, the other, supper.:D)

This looks like a cookie my mom used to make at Christmas. Sicilian descent (she was second generation) and we just called them "Filled Cookies." I searched around & found a recipe that sounded like hers, but I've never made them (she passed away, didn't have the recipe in her faithful recipe box). I don't even know if she had a recipe - she cooked the filling on the stove, which was a combination of dried fruits, nuts & some booze (most likely rum - rum is always good in desserts).

These sound fantastic - I am going to have to try at least one of the versions.

She always was saying how difficult it was to roll out the dough (said they were like raviolis, only sweet), but this technique sounds so much easier.

Not good for me to know, though. I really need to lose weight.

(and I agree - your blog is fantastic, too)

I find that cookies are like that.  Every culture has a similar variation.  Everything old is new again I guess.

You just have to make the cookies on a day you are going out,  Then you can eat just a few (they're tiny!!) and take the rest to someone else.  I have a friend who, when the urge hits to bake, just bakes and then takes everything to a homeless shelter.  I love that idea!
