Baker's Internship!
If you're looking for a way to brush up on your baking skills and learn some new ones too, have I got good news for you! Things are getting busy and I need one hard working baker to team up with me for a week in the middle of June (17th-24th). This isn't a vacation or a 'come and watch as Mark demonstrates techniques' kind of workshop. You'll be working beside me working baker's hours and sharing all of the tasks with me too. We'll be making everything from baguettes and sourdough to bear claws and croissants. We'll be selling at the farmer's markets and making daily deliveries too. How's that? It's free to you and free to me, so we both win.
If you're interested or just inquisitive, you can download more information about it here with this PDF.

Mark,
I'd say "Sign me up!", but I just can't make it on those dates. You'll do this again, right? Please? Pretty please?
Paul
...that I'll take you up on it, right? When my wife's 'summer break' (from teaching, not baking) is over in the fall, I'm going to do it again. So check your calendar during the month of September thru mid October. Last year a TFLer came out for a week in September for the same thing and it worked out really great.

Mark,
I think there's a conflict with the first week of October; I'll look into that when I get home tonight. September, though, has possibilities.
Paul
Mark, that looks really amazing! Your part of the world is some of the most beautiful I've ever seen :) Unfortunately, it's entirely possible that I'm going to be testing for my Advanced Certification (scuba) the weekend of the 20th, otherwise I'd absolutely be all over it. To echo Paul, I truly hope you'll be able to do another one soon!
Jen
Jen, are you out of your mind? Well, check your dates again for the fall (Sept thru mid Oct) if that suits your fancy. Did I mention there's a small woodburner in the cabin to keep you toasty? I'll even split the wood for you. Some of it anyway.
-Mark
Ordinarily, baking would win hands down, but I just did my open water testing this weekend (and I'm sunburned to a tomato-like shade to prove it) and I'm unbelievably excited to do the specialty certs - I realize this is no comparison to the incredible joy of bread baking, but if it's any consolation, I made homemade burger buns to go with our pulled pork sandwiches at the lake :) and there's some brioche bread pudding in the works right now, from last week's leftover brioche (BBA Challenge)
If you teach me to split wood, I'll have a go at it! Fall would be amazing. I'm sure taking a week off of teaching to get to work with you is a no-brainer. If they move the dates for the June cert, I'll be emailing you :)
Thanks again for doing this. I keep returning to your website to check for more videos.

Thanks to those of you who expressed interest in the internship. I have chosen a baker and he'll be here from the week of June 17th-24th. I'll keep you updated on how it goes and post some pictures during the week we're working.
If you think you might be interested in doing the same thing in the fall, email me at the bakery, and I'll notify you as we get closer to the time!
