Where parchment doesn't work

I learn most things by experience, and this evening taught me that it isn't a very good idea to put parchment paper under a pizza that you are going to cook on a stone on the BBQ. Wow, it was really exciting! The parchment paper immediately caught fire and melted into the pizza. The pizza also was really black on the bottom--I mean really black (think it was a combination of the heat of the stone and the ability of what Bruce would term the lowest of low grades of parchment's ability to melt into anything subjected to 600 degrees).

What an exciting evening we had. And, we're a little hungry too! I did salvage a little bit of these pizzas and tried to separate the bottom from the top on part of the really burnt parts, but that was pretty challenging--pizza doesn't separate well. We'll, we didn't burn the wine, so I guess will manage through the evening, somehow.

I guess I shouldn't laugh, but the vision of that scene is pretty funny.

Parchment burns very well and very easily when it's subjected to an open flame....my used parchment goes into my woodstove where it ignites instantly.  Expensive kindling...

Presuming you have some lovely bread around the kitchen, how about grilled cheese sandwiches with that wine!

Tonight's pizza just completed today's baking experiments. Let's see: I left the egg out of the crackers so they were really hard and I don't know what happened to the biscuits I made which didn't rise, I was late for my haircut (well, more than late because I forgot about it until I got a phone call). It's always good to not be totally satisfied every night, right?

I did get a picture though, but remember looks are deceiving because the parchment has now burned off and set into the pizza!

That's what I blame my failures on.

What the heck....have a glass of wine and enjoy life's little imperfections.

Despite your eventful evening, the pizza looks really good. Delicious actually. It makes me want to venture into pizza making again.  And I should be leery, considering my last attempt.

Pamela, would you share a recipe for your pizza pie?  You could send it to me directly, if at all possible, so I don't hijack this entertaining thread.

Na Zdrowie!

It's just the pizza from the pizza primer plus some pesto I bought at Costco (Floyd's recommendation) and fresh mozzarella.
