It’s been an incredibly sad year, with our loved ones leaving us one after another. In those difficult moments, when everything felt bare, I found comfort in the quiet life of flowers. Wanting to share that comfort with others who were mourning, and to pay my last respects in a heartfelt way, I created a wreath for the memorial service.

Baking has also been a source of comfort for me. While baking itself isn’t new, baking in a hotel room was. When I made one more trip back to be with my dad, there were days when I was just waiting around. Baking helped me focus and gave me something steady to hold on to.

Even though the wreath and the bread can’t reach our loved ones, the love, respect, and memories behind them still draw me close to them.

Sorrow is not forever. Love is.

My condolences on your loses this past year Yippee.  What you said is so true, grief isn't forever, but love is.  However, in the middle of grief it can be hard to see that it will ever end.

Hugs.

Benny

Your beautiful baking is a wonderful tribute to the loved ones you’ve lost.

Unfortunately, I have suffered through the loss of my Mom in 2025 and feel your pain.

May your loved ones memories be a blessing ❤️.

Best wishes,

Ian

So much pent-up emotion in those arrangements arrayed against stained metal, neutral curtains, medical monitoring machines and distant nighttime apartment blocks. Baking in a hotel room transforms waiting into something lovely ... and lonely. Thanks for sharing and please know that you are not alone.

Rob

Sincerely,

Yippee

There are some holes in our lives that cannot be filled, even though the pain recedes with time.  I wish you solace as you grieve.

Paul

is inspiring, Yippee. I too find some comfort in baking and art during dark moments. Really appreciate your sharing and I hope the next year looks up for you. Looking forward to your next posts.

These silent photos are moving in their testimony to these times and the wreath is a true labour of love. May this period of mourning and grief give you everything that you need and didn't even know you need.
