Butter tarts are famous in Canada (as are Nanaimo bars). Don't know why they never caught on in the US.
Butter tarts
1/4c soft butter
1/4c packed brown sugar
1/2c corn syrup
vanilla
1 egg
1/2c raisins (soak in hot water for 30min)
With a wooden spoon, cream butter & sugar. Add syrup & vanilla. Mix. Add egg and mix well.
Pat raisins dry and divide among 12 tart shells. Spoon in filling. Bake 400°F for 18-19min.

I love butter tarts! Those look wonderful! I bet they’d be good with pecans …. like a tiny pecan pie.
Pecan pie--in a similar vein, I thought if butter tarts were delicious, why not butter pie? Aaargh, too much of a good thing--terribly sweet.
Canadian here....those butter tarts would be welcome anytime, I am not ashamed to say I am a sucker for a good butter tart and those look delicious.
😊
These look delicious. They are small so if I only eat, lets say 4 of them they would be ok on my diet 🙄😂
Four sounds about right. 😊
Excellent butter tarts, I know why Canadians love them, but they are a bit too sweet for me. I’m good with just a bite, but I’d probably eat a whole one of yours.

Thanks, Benny.
