I never see comments at all unless I go to my topic and look. I always used to get email notifications but the past few weeks nothing. I check the box every time I comment but it’s not working.
How about if you go to 'my account' (on right side of screen on a desktop) then go to 'edit' and scroll down to comment follow-up notification settings. Should look like the attached photo - I get every reply to content as well and comments.

I can manage with the public forum. However, if someone wants to privately chat with me then they'll need to let me know on the public forum and i'll have to initiate the PM.
There is a setting for PM's in the same place as email notifications. Not sure how yours is configured - it may be the cause of not showing up in the search?
Otherwise, someone can navigate to your profile page an initiate a PM:
You are correct that searching for your specific name doesn't work for some reason. I searched trailrunner and tpassin as other examples and they come up. At least there is another way!
To put it mildly - there is constant "working" - changes should be expected. Don't forget - this is world wide - we are here on our own. Take it easy on the comments to the developers. Enjoy!
Searching for oneself doesn't come up with any results. I've just done a search for you Tom and your name did appear. It seems, for some reason, my name doesn't appear in the search box. Think it might have something to do with the number or characters.
I think one's own name doesn't come up in a search. I suppose that makes sense but it's also a complication.
If you click on a user's name (that is under the title of one of their posts), then scoll down under "Recent Blog Posts", you will see a link "Send This User A Private Message".
This works for Abe, who isn't showing up in the search box.
Here's a comment so there will be at least one for you to check.
No notification in my email . Still not working. I’ve checked the box for “ all comments” . Will see what happens .

I played with it using the Chrome developer tools thinking I'd see the bug but the magic (or lack thereof) happens back on the server.

How these sites work is beyond me. As long as now there is a way then it should be fine.
Not sure why my name doesn't come up in the search bar. Perhaps names need a minimum amount of characters to be searchable.
But when I type GaryBishop I don't show up. Maybe it filters the user out?
And you do show up for me. So perhaps a screen name needs a certain amount of characters and one can't search for themselves.
So issue is definitely fixed. Now I can answer in a timely fashion .

I didn't realize it had been fixed! When we first changed onto the new site that wasn't there. Just checked now with your profile and it is!
When the new site first became live one had to do a search for the person within the PMs but now there is a button it should be fine.

I tend to do PM with the same folks so they are in my messaging “ Q” . I just click on past note and reply.
I only have so much bandwidth… haha! Can’t figure it out.
