Hobart N50 noise

Hi All!

I've just finished the restoration of a Hobart N50. It was totally disassembled, repainted, had new grease, etc. The tumbler yoke was originally deformed and broken, it has been bent back and welded.

After assembling it has this noise: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ihjBPjLZG-w

Maybe it comes from the motor, however, without the mechanical part (the transmission), the motor is so quiet.

I tried everything but cannot solve the issue.

Could someone please help me with this topic?

Thanks!

good evening

Maybe this is it?

I had a noise with these parts. the washer had been totally eaten. the screws were rubbing on the gear shift plate. i had a new washer made, and i filed the gear shift plate so that in the future the screws could not rub on the plate, even if the washer disappeared with work.e

Hi pauldausi!

Thanks for the info! I checked again and it turned out that the problem was the parts marked with red were in contact:

The reason was that screw 41 was not a slotted screw but another one with a thick head.

So, now it is pretty good, but only without load. With a large batch of dough, there is another problem:

Do you have any idea?

Thanks!

Hello

you have to listen to the sound to hear if it is repetitive or not. on the video, the sound does not seem to be repetitive. i have listened to it several times,

When the camera approaches the machine, a clear sound can be heard inside, at the end of the video the sound is not correlated with the arm turning with its dough.

This sound comes from inside.

it sounds like grains being ground...

has this machine been sanded? are there any grains of sand left inside?

can we get another video? with the camera on the electric motor part (middle) and on the mechanical part (front).

anyway if the noise is not repetitive it is not the gears.

I had to do this with all the grease...I had some everywhere...for me it was the 59 part that was not pushed in enough, and that was scratching.

Now what will others on the forum say when they will come and see?

Hi,

Thanks for the fast response!

Yes, the sound is not repetitive and comes from inside. It can be heard when the force required to spin is higher than a certain threshold. E.g. if I put some cooking oil in the bowl the noise disappears.

The machine was sanded, but there is no sand left inside.

I'm going to make another video and will let you know!

Thanks!
