Sorry to whine

Hi folks. I’m consistently getting pop ups at this site and only this site that look very fishy. “You’ve won”…

Just want to let you know. Looks like an opportunity to get infected with a virus to me.

I use uBlock Origin and highly recommend it.

I agree with GaryBishop. I was getting many pop-ups also and installed uBlock Origin. Fabulous. I'm on Win10.

Cheers,

Gavin.

I hope I don’t jinx myself but I don’t get pop ups on TFL.

when using one of the work computers where I don’t sign into this site. Always assumed that the pop ups are only presented to guest viewers of the page, don’t know if it is factual but it is the impression I got.

I thought you might be right since it was happening when I wasn’t logged in. But an ad pop up just happened  when I logged in. Between that And the really annoying Capcha I might be forced to completely stop participating. It’s just too frustrating.

What OS is on the device that you are using?  There are usually settings that you change to block pop ups.

That's a great question, Benny... iPhone with latest OS and Safari. Maybe this is why I've been so frustrated in the past!

I think what I'll do is start using a Windows10 computer with Chrome for a while and see if that works better.

I am using Firefox with AdBlocker Ultimate on a Windows 10 system. I have no issues with popups. I didn't even realize there were popups until I tried it with Edge with no ad blocker.

On MacOS Safari, newest versions go to Safari preferences, then click Websites tab, then in the left hand column scroll to the bottom and click Pop-up Windows.  You can then find thefreshloaf.com and change the settings to block pop-up windows.  Then you won't get them at all anymore on this website and then you can do that for other websites as well.  No reason to stop using MacOS just change your settings, simple.

Thanks... I'll give that a try ASAP.  At the moment I'm using a POC.  Popups happen but they are smaller and not as intrusive as on the phone.  :)

Sorry I misread your note.  On iOS go to Settings, scroll down to Safari, scroll down to Block Pop-ups and then that that on.  I never see pop-ups on my iPhone or iPad nor on my Mac.  The system settings will block them.
