information

Hi fellow TFL Folk could i please ask members that are using the forum especially if wanting help and advice to consider completing  their info, I for one like to know who i'm addressing and possibly helping, where they are from. Sometimes the information that we might offer could be completely irrelevant if you don't have access to some of the flours and stuff that some of us are privileged to have. Also locations can help us to understand climatic conditions you might be baking under too.

I might also say that if i'm having a quick glance and the avatar is lit up i tend to gravitate to those posts first,  and if time is limited then the others might miss my attention.

I'm not saying i wont reply to those posts BUT  i am more likely to allow those posts to preserve their anonymity

I am pleased to know a little about OUR different members and i do note that most of the members that give their time and thoughts to others problems or just complementing and encouraging others have completed their info boxes and when you click their lit up avatars you can see a little about them.  Well Done You!

Kind regards Derek.

people asking for help and not describing their oven and baking method.

Most beginning bakers don't understand how vastly different a convection oven is from a conventional bottom-heating oven.  Nor how different a gas oven is from an electrical oven.

I also must say that I really appreciate it when people sign their names at the bottoms of their posts especially when they’re new.  Some handles member use are simple enough to write in a response, but I still appreciate knowing a name.

Thanks Benny i do think its far nicer to be able to address some one properly and its the old saying knowing someone "ON first Names basis". I am also able to note that you are in  Toronto Canada where your conditions are quite different to mine in Perth Western Australia. You are usually one of the first  overseas responders to my posts because of the time difference.Sometimes it might be Gavin in Victoria Australia who is a few hours ahead. For me its being part of belonging to the group!

regards Derek

Yes and I totally agree with your points in this thread.  If we are going to help someone all of this type of information is useful.  I do love the sense of community on this site, I haven’t experienced that on a website before.  I almost feel like I know you guys and gals.
