Replacement belt for Magic Mill stand mixer

A bit more than two years ago, buoyed by the advice I got on this forum, I bought an Assistent DLX that was used at least 10 years before it came to me and that I have been thrilled with (thanks very much to all who participated in that thread).  But I'm noticing momentary but distinct dips in rotational speed under load (and not especially heavy ones at that), so I'm thinking my belt has seen better days and I should have a replacement belt on stand-by if/when this one fails.  The problem is, I can't find one.   I've checked ankarsrumoriginalusa.com, magicmillusa.com, eBay, Amazon, and a general search of the Intewebs (which I'm sure gets no help from the machine's many changes in names over the years), but I can't find one. I'd bet dollars to donuts I can get what I'm looking for at an auto parts store, or tractor supply, but only if I knew its particulars, which I don't.  And I'm too lazy to open it up to remove the existing belt to take with me to match (besides which it might be stretched out of spec anyway).

So after all that I finally get to the obvious question.  Anybody know who sells a suitable replacement?

You may be out of luck for parts.  Ankarsrum was spun off from Electrolux more than 10 years ago.  You may be able to find a scraper for an Electrolux Assistant, but I doubt you'll be able to find a belt for an older model.  The best option for an older mixer is either KitchenAid, or Hobart.

It is possible it is the belt, but it if it the older Magic Mill, it is also possible it is a bent motor mounting bracket https://www.pizzamaking.com/forum/index.php?topic=4471.0

I also have a feeling that my DLX2000 got louder, but haven't had the heart to look inside.  And conveniently the link also show the exact model of the belt.

Just take the bottom plate off and look.  It is really clean and simple.  If the belt is worn there should be some particulates that have fallen off and are probably resting on the bottom plate.  And as they say in bridge, "a peek is worth a 1000 finesses"

You might contact https://pleasanthillgrain.com. They've sold the mixer for a long time and might have repair information or contacts.  Patsy

There are two belts available. This is the one that fits an N28 and the rest of that family. Shipping is 45 euros to the US so total is around $100.

If that one is not right according to the model listing, scroll up a few pages until you find the other one (a little more expensive but available)

The other possibility is to contact a company that used to be the US service rep

I found a cross for this belt, from an American supplier. It has an automotive type profile similar to a serpentine belt. I had two of these used, one had the some the bottom screws stripped out and on the other the screws are in with thread locker that’s frozen.

Sorry to leave this open so long but the old belt wasn't broken, it was only slipping under heavy load, like when I was making pizza dough enough for three large crusts.  So I was more looking to have a replacement on hand if/when the old belt failed.

Mission accomplished.

I don't get on this side of town very often but I had revisited this thread about two weeks ago because I decided it was time to buy.  The price of the belt at the website where I'd thought I would in time buy it (hometechcanada.ca) had tripled since I'd posted here in January 2021, so I came back to refresh my memory as to the alternatives.  Plus the belt Home Tech Canada shows online now is white or transluscent (the OE belt is black) and I wasn't comfortable that that was an OEM belt.

In fact that was so expensive I was considering looking for another used Assistent, figuring if I was lucky I might be able to find one for under $300, and that might be a better value than spending on a $156 belt.

It wasn't on their website but I had emailed pleasanthillgrain.com to ask if they had them or where they might be found.  They never replied.  I'd found several other European websites selling the same belt but none of them advertised that they would ship to the US.

I ended up buying from huoltopalvelu.com (thank you, Doc Dough).  It cost me 70.93€, delivered, which thanks to a favorable exchange rate billed to my CC at $73.83 USD.  The price was some lower than advertised because the EU's VAT is built into the price the Europeans pay.

It arrived yesterday, 13 days after the transaction.  I waited until I had it in hand to compare to what's in the mixer before posting this.  The width is identical but the old belt has stretched a fair amount, 1/2 to 3/4".  There was black schmutz on the inside of the mixer, which I could tell by the spray pattern was tiny bits shed by the belt over these 15-ish years (a surprisingly small amount, all things considered).

Getting to the belt is a doodle.  Four Torx fasteners hold the bottom on, and when they're removed there's nothing else attached to the bottom.  And the belt removes and reinstalls easily by hand.

The search for the proper replacement was somewhat problematic because the name of the manufacturer has changed repeatedly, and I didn't have a schematic to take the manufacturer's part number from.  I ended up keying on the "DLX9000" model number (although mine is a DLX9311) and even then the part number used by each of the webistes I found who had it on offer differed from all the others.  I just had to trust that they knew which belt the DLX9000 took.

So thanks to everyone who contributed, you've helped me extend the service life of a mixer I'll probably never find again for so little money.  And sorry for being so long-winded but I did it deliberately in case somewhere down the road someone else finds him (or her) self in the same predicament as I was in and chances across this thread while looking for their replacement belt.

Thanks for your post, it is not all that uncommon to have a problem, and do a search, and find a much older post with the solution.   Someone soon may have a similar problem and will appreciate your followup.
