Photo Contest: Harvest Season

Let's try something new: anyone up for a photo contest?

The theme: harvest season, since for all of us in the northern hemisphere it is getting to be that time of year.

If you are a site member, you should be able to upload an image here. I created a new gallery for this contest that your images can go in (click on the categories link while uploading the image to select the gallery). You can also just add a comment to this thread linking to any photo of yours you post on your own site or on photobucket.

My first entry:

At this point, I'd say there aren't any rules because there aren't any prizes. Obviously baked goods should be involved though.

If you run into any trouble posting images, email me your image and I can post the image for you. Just be sure to include your screen name and any comments about it so that I can attribute it to you properly.

Updated 9/19: I'm going to start including some of the cool pics people are uploading here, so people don't have to go hunt around for them.

There is wendyshum's rustic bread full of flax, pumpkin, and sunflower seeds:

and beenjamming's sourdough with NY apples:

Whoa! I just noticed Joe Fisher's loaf shaped like a pumpkin:

Here's sort of a corny set-up photo, but I AM proud of myself this year for doing a better job of preserving my "bounty" this season :) Everythiing here was grown in our yard--except for a few ingredients in the bread and jellies...

Just in the mood to bake baguettes today, and they go with everything!

Okay that worked!

Here's a not-so-good photo, but it's a fun one. This is most of a day's baking in my mud oven earlier this summer. I made ciabatta and rosemary-olive bread, and my friend brought over french bread dough. Our apples were just ripe, and I promised BF if he peeled, I'd make a pie too!

This was my third bake in the oven--we just made it this spring--and I managed to do all of these (plus what I sent home with the friend) on one firing! I think it was about four batches of bread, and then the pie baked in about an hour....

Yeah, we just bought fresh cider today!

Well, the lined basket was a gift from a friend in the antique business--I think it is actually from France, but I'm not positive. It was a very cool gift. She also got me the round bread cutting board in the photo :)

It actually is a little long and unwieldy. Due to it's size and age, I usually line it with a few linens and put either two or three loaves in it--and then I flip them out with help from the liner fabric.

I think I've seen long baskets similar to this in stores such as cost plus or Pier 1.... if that helps. As long as you have the shape and you can line it with something, it doesn't matter too much what it's made out of. Hope this helps!

Yeah, here is your post:

"Today I baked two loaves of Ten Grain Bread and added to them my "harvest" entries:

from left to right Peach Marmalade, Hot 'n Sweet Pepper Jelly, Cranberry Chutney, and

my mom's Garden Relish."
