First fresh loaf for many months

Hi friends, this old ski bum had a busy winter baking mostly cookies and muffins and logging 100 ski days for the season in a difficult snow year. YAHOO!

I was going to bake baguettes, got lazy and decided to do a Forkish style proof and bake. Funny, I ate little bread over the winter and suddenly had a hankering for a fresh loaf. Mission accomplished! I also started a pineapple juice solution to get a levain going and in day 5, it looks like I have a successful starter!!!!! I Am also day two on a YW starter that is progressing well according to dabrownman's instructions.

Well now that ski season is pretty much over, back to the bread baking.

Loaf shot:

I love Dad's oatmeal chocolate chip cookies and googled a great knockoff recipe and the results are tremendous!!!

Happy baking folks!  Brian

ski season is over - has to be hard on a ski bum like you.  Love the bread and especially the cookie. I'm pretty sure most of the world's wrongs could be righted with s decent batch of cookie:-)  Good luck with the YW and

Happy baking Ski

Mine sure didn't look like the ones in the recipe photo, but they sure tasted good!

WHOOHOO! I once again have a successful SD starter. My yeast water is in day three and I added the honey this morning and it is starting to fizz!  Happy baking, Brian

Pretty stoked to have both a working SD and YW in progress. I will admit that I was pretty excited to see the results after 12 minutes in the DO. I have a couple of SD type bakes on the go right now. Loving it again!!! Best regards, Ski

Thanks for the recipe.  I will have to try these after I finish my diet :).

Wonder why yours spread so much.  Maybe your baking powder is not good?  I'm not the cookie expert in my family as my wife always takes care of the cakes, pies and cookies.

Ian
