She makes me one proud Mom!

This morning as I was getting ready to make some sourdough my 6 year old daughter asked if she could make some bread too, I said yes and pulled out my bread book to find a kid friendly recipe.  I settled on onion and thyme rolls and got all of the ingredients out for her.  I cooked the onions and measured the flour and water but she did everything else with a little guidance.  I must say that she impressed me with her kneading skills, she had the dough kneaded to a near perfect windowpane in about 15 minutes. :o)  (I'm hoping that's from watching me???)

The dough is proofing at the moment so I will have to post a pic of the final product once it's been baked.

You should be proud! She looks very serious and competent.

I hope your daughter sticks with it. My sons, both of whom are great cooks as adults, had no interest in cooking as children. I understand my 10 year old grandson is helping his dad cook. We'll see if he has any interest in bread baking over Thanksgiving.

To the daughter of butterflygrooves: You look like you have the kneading down pat. Great job! I can't wait to see how your bread turns out. I'm sure it will be fine since you kneaded it so well.

Your daughter is darling and her dough looks great.

Please be sure to share a photo of the baker with her bread!

I'm just waiting for the dough to chill so I can go shape a batch of cookies with my almost 6 year old.  What a fun activity on a cold, rainy day.

Nice rolls.

Are you letting your daughter know she is an international celebrity?

I haven't let her know yet but when she wakes up tomorrow she will see.  She's going to love it!

Her smile makes me smile.  You need to frame that photo and hang it in your kitchen.

I love when kids get involved in cooking and baking. She has done you proud, and goes to show what a good teacher that you are.
