Thick lumpy crust

I am making whole-grain bread in my Zojirushi bb-cec20. Everything seems to be working fine except the crust is extremely bumpy. It looks like a pile of large boulders.  I am using the basic whole-grain program with dark crust selected.

Suggestions please
