Lazy Loafer granite baking stones

Hello LL,

In a recent thread you mentioned using 1.25" granite as a baking stone. I'm curious, how in the heck do your oven racks support the weight?

Does it have something to do with your location on the earth's gravitational grid?

Thanks, Paul

Haha, no, the oven seems to cope quite well with it. It's a Whirlpool electric wall oven and I like it a lot. The racks also support eight cast iron pots (four on each shelf) full of bread dough. :)

The designers of these oven expected the user to put a 20+ pound turkey in a heavy roasting pan on the racks.  They should handle the granite just fine - just don't drop it in place which adds a lot of impact load.  (I would take them out for the turkey :)  ).
