Problem with the Wondermill Jr. Deluxe

I bought a wondermill deluxe jr, constructed a bicycle work station, and with it i can make peanut butter and wheat flour no problem, but each time i've tried to make corn flour by grinding popcorn kernals, the mill self tightens itself to the point that it seizes up and threatens to destroy the machine if i don't pay attention.  On no other ingredients so far have i had this problem of the grinding stones self-tightening.  Do any others have a similar experience, and any recommendations and solutions?

Can't help with the mill, but do know that popcorn is harder than dent corn (or field corn as  its known in the corn belt where I live) and that may be the problem. The instructions that came with my mill, a KoMo, implicitly says not to grind popcorn but I have ground organic dent corn just this week to make cornbread with no difficulties.

I agree, try with a different kind of corn. Also, have you tried cracking it with the steel burrs before grinding it into flour with the stones? It would be a shame to damage the stones, for sure.

I have the Country Living Grain Mill and have no trouble milling popcorn into corn flour. The burrs look very similar to yours so this is puzzling. How can the mill self tighten itself?

Thanks for the comments.  I have thought about using the steel burrs first, and then ease down to finer milling.  My mill sits atop a steel pipe frame, partly chopped up bicycle and married.  there is a bit of vibration with popcorn on this rig, so i guess it's a combination of vibration and the hardness of the popcorn.  Still, i can't figure out how the mill manages to tighten itself
