Hobart A200 Mixer Troubles, ticking in 1st gear

I am having some Hobart A200 Mixer troubles. If anyone online could provide guidance it would be much appreciated.

I had rebuilt my Hobart A200 a while back, replacing the worm gear as it was worn out. Afterwards, it had a strange ticking/knocking noise in first gear, though not in 2nd of 3rd. When the gear shift was moved slightly towards 2nd gear the noise would go away. Not long after, the worm gear had become chewed up and the entire gear box was covered on brass metal shavings.

Now, last week I repaired the mixer, again, replacing the worm gear, seals, and bearings. Cleaned EVERYTHING!

The same ticking/knocking issue is there again and I'm afraid the worm gear might get ground down again. I'm not sure if the two issues are related.

Any thoughts on the cause of the issue and hopefully the process to fix it?

I don't know the mixer but I would not run it until you can track down the problem.  Yes, I think the worm gear will probably get chewed up again. It sounds like the gearshift detents aren't holding the transmission parts in the correct position in first gear, leading to the ticking sound. Maybe something, perhaps as simple as the end of a slot, is too worn.  See if you can figure that out before running the mixer any more.
