Brod and Taylor folding proofer WAY too hot

Toast

I bought a Brod and Taylor folding proofer a little over a year ago (yes, it's out of warranty by 10 days). The thermostat seems to be broken. When I set the temp around 76-78, the proofer temp shoots up to 115 or 120 and stays there. Has anyone else had this problem? I was wondering if there was a "fix" for this issue. I probably used it 40-50 times and have taken very good care of it, so I'm pretty disappointed. I don't want to have to spend $219 every year. Thanks

Maybe they would help. I had mine for many years and it's been OK so far, but it's the previous model. Mine keeps the set temperature to within a few degrees.

I've owned the proofer since 2012. Temperature control works fine. Also suggest that you contact B&T.

How do you measure the temp it goes up to?  Does the digital read-out actually show the incorrect temp?

Hi,

My BT  seems to be working and I have had it for years, but as I mentioned in the post on the SD proofer, I also like the water bath method with Inkbird temp control.

I should probably get a temp probe in the BT though now that you mentioned it being too high!

For folks who are worried about the Brod & Taylor proofer temperature, remember the temperature on the base, particularly in the centre, is hotter than the enclosed air temperature. The instructions for making yoghurt mention this. For lower temperature bread proofing, use the water tray in the centre and place the bread container on the wire tray. You should find the thermostat soon settles and maintains the required temperature.
