I was using the ice cream attachment with my Ank and had a bit of a spill over. The round gear with the bar across it that the bowl sits in, filled with ice cream liquid. I took the base over to the sink and carefully rinsed the shaft out while leaning it over the sink. Is that shaft area sealed? Do I need to remove the base cover in order to do a more thorough cleaning?

It’s not fully sealed, the shaft area on the Ankarsrum can let liquid seep down to the motor housing if too much gets in. A light rinse is usually fine, but if a lot of ice cream got inside, it’s best to remove the base cover and check for any residue or moisture to avoid motor damage. Make sure it’s fully dry before using it again.
