Left handed bread knife

As a lefty I struggle to cut slices that are the same thickness top to bottom. Bread knives, like most of the world, are made for the right handed majority.

I recently thought to search for left handed bread knives and discovered that are several available in a range of prices.

I went with the Mercer Culinary M23211 Millennia Black Handle, 10-Inch Left Handed Wavy Edge Wide, Bread Knife.

I am very pleased to have found a knife that allows me to cut a straight line.

Another lefty here. I've used the left-handed Mercer knife for three years now. It works great!

Never knew bread knives weren't symmetrical. Had to get up and check. I use an electric meat slicer for uniform slices, but realize it is designed for right-hand use as well.

You're probably wondering why you didn't do this ages ago.

They are the majority. The world is also not designed for colourblind folk. My son once set off a security alarm at a facility, because he couldn't tell what colour the lights were on the control.

I have looked at the above knife and it seems to be almost double in price from Azon as it is from Walmart. And Walmart has free shipping. So where did you get yours and do you think they are all exactly the same knife ?  Thanks !  c

Walmart offers it to me for $18.95 and they don't appear to be offering free shipping to me.

Amazon offers it to me for $25.94 and I get free shipping because I pay for Amazon prime. I bought it from Amazon because I'm lazy and didn't shop. I was so excited to find a left handed knife I just ordered it.

I saw the Suncraft Seseragi 8.75" Bread Knife, Left-Handed first and thought it was really nice but didn't want to pay $79.95 + shipping.

Does it make a difference which side the scallop is on? I'm a Southpaw and use an Opinel Parallele with the scallop on the left and it seem to cut straight down for me. This knife is not sold as being for left handers. I also have an old Kitchen Devil and that too has the scallop on the left.

I also have a Tojiro FU-737 and it has the scallop on the right, but they say "It is a wave blade which can be used both right-handed and left-handed". I actually find it worse for cutting straight down, but I put this down to having less blade height.

Opinel make another bread knife called the Intempora and they say "Note the serrated edge of this bread knife is on the left side of the blade. Ideal if you’re left handed, but still just as usable if you’re right handed."

Which side is the scallop on the Mercer?
